<the material>Developed in NZ, 'Green Seal' is a cellulose hardened pine produced through innovative technology. Greenseal has the beauty and performance characteristics of a hardwood, yet comes from sustainablly managed NZ plantation forest.

<the brief> To design an article usng Greenseal, transforming it into a piece of art that takes advantage of its appearance and properties which challenge people's perception of traditional design.

<the process of selection>
A design proposal is to be submitted by November the 30th 2002. These proposals will be judged and the best entries selected and the designers supplied with the material they require to manufacture their prototype. The completed works will then be submitted for a final selection process in March 2003 for the exhibition and awards in April.

$10,000 first prize.
<student category>
a trip to the 2003 Milan furniture fair with airfares, accommodation, and fare ticket.

*please note: designs submitted in the student category are not eligible for the open category.
*Only students from Particpating Tertiary institutions may enter student category.

<The Venue>The Metaform 02 Exhibition will be held at the Auckland Museum, a venue that is accessible and familiar to the general public, rather than at a design or art specific venue. This is to ensure the wider public has an opportunity to see the work, the material in use, and to generate interest in furniture design that challenges traditional boundaries.
